June 23rd the VSEA Board voted to name Steve Howard as the union’s new Executive Director. Board members made it clear that they like the recent direction that VSEA has taken: stepped-up internal organizing and first-ever external organizing, improved efforts to empower frontline workers, enhanced steward training, the successful introduction of “open bargaining”, as well as increased grassroots legislative and political action.
