Why UVMMC Nurses are Standing Strong for Respect & Patient Care

Laurie Aunchman, President of the Vermont President of the Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals (VFNHP), Local 5221, explains the issues behind the nurses efforts to win a contract that would address the problem of uncompetitive wages for nurses and support staff that are the root cause of chronic understaffing at the hospital, negatively impacting patient care and leading to burnout, and high levels of turnover at the hospital. She is joined by Andrew Tripp, a former lead organizer for the nurses and part of the leadership team at Rights & Democracy, who shares why the nurses and other working people need to build strong unions.
