FairPoint Squeezing It’s Workers - a Disservice to the Public

Mike Spillane, of IBEW 2326, and Don Trementozzi, CWA Local 1400, represent the hard-working men and women at FairPoint who build, maintain, and service our critical telecommunications network. They explain that, as the contracts covering nearly 2000 FairPoint employees across Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine near expiration on August 2nd, company negotiators are demanding draconian changes and deep concessions. Mike and Don report that the company has consistently rejected union proposals, has cancelled multiple bargaining sessions, and continues to treat union bargainers with disrespect by refusing to bargain in good faith. If the Wall Street hedge fund operators who own most of FairPoint (and have no interest in serving the public) got what they're demanding, our communities would end up being "served" by a low wage, high turnover, outsourced workforce.
